Introduction

My name is Sharon Krasner.  This is the end of my 21st year in the classroom.  I have worked in Urban Districts (Detroit and Pontiac) for that entire time.  Currently, I'm teaching at Cornerstone Jefferson Douglas Academy, teaching 7/8 ELA.  Just received word this morning that I will be changing positions in the new year and I will be working at the district level as a Literacy Coach for the high school (the majority of my experience has been at the 9-12 level).  I'm very excited about it-this is what I've wanted to do for so long.

I plan on starting certification courses through Eastern Michigan University in the fall to gain my basic school administration certificate.  I don't want to be a school administrator-that's never been my goal.  However, I want to coach teachers-I've received training through MAISA and MAPSA, but schools want that piece of paper saying I've taking admin courses, so that's that.

I didn't take the Level 1 Certification due to the fact that I took quite a few courses when Covid hit in Spring of 2020 that gave me the basic experience I needed with Google Classroom.  I've been teaching online since last Spring, and we just returned to our building officially last week.  So I'm pretty comfortable with many of the aspects of Google Classroom. I signed up for the L2 Certification because I thought I would still be in the classroom. But, as a coach, I still feel it will be extremely useful for me in modeling and helping other teachers to improve their practice.  Our work online isn't done, even if we all return to schools in the fall.  Online learning is the future of education and I want to stay on top of it.
